BIOCLEAR

Rejuvenate, conserve, and protect your smile with Bioclear

Why Bioclear?

To keep it short and sweet: it's stronger and more resilient than a traditional restoration.

The typical longevity of a composite restoration might be two to five years. Bioclear restorations typically last fifteen to twenty years or more.

Traditional composites are applied at room temperature, in successive layers. This not only creates noticeable edges at the gumline, but also weakens the structural integrity of the restoration. After that, they need to be touched up or replaced.

Bioclear uses a heated composite made by 3M that is flowed in, rather than layered. Essentially, the material that will form the new tooth structure is combined with heated material that allows it to be flowed into the Bioclear Matrix, creating a single, monolithic fill that is cured (hardened) with light. The result is harder and more structurally sound than layered composite alone.

Bioclear versus
crowns & veneers

Rather than grinding down a tooth to prepare for a crown or veneer, the Bioclear Method of ensconcing the natural tooth structure retains the natural tooth enamel and tooth durability.

Scenarios where we consider disassembling existing restorations and rejuvenating a tooth with Bioclear:

Decay is present beneath the existing restoration

Esthetics are unappealing in existing restoration (stained, brown edges, etc)

The existing restoration causes pain when chewing, or exposure to cold because the tooth is cracked

High risk of breakage due to microscopic cracks

BIOCLEAR PREPARATION

Bioclear allows dentists to conserve healthy tooth structure, rather than grinding teeth into nubs.

CROWN PREPARATION

Crowns require dentists to remove an average of 76% of the tooth structure prior to the procedure.

VENEER PREPARATION

Veneers require dentists to remove an average of 47% of the tooth structure prior to the procedure.

Bioclear can be used to restore teeth with both esthetic and foundational issues.

FOUR MAIN TREATMENT TYPES

01

Cracked Teeth

The Bioclear Posterior Overlay ensconces the entire tooth, prevents fracturing in weak and cracked teeth, and rejuvenates the tooth appearance, color, and volume. Traditional fillings go “in” the tooth, which can eventually lead to a cracked tooth. Bioclear goes “around” the tooth with a combination of engineered cavity preparations and the patented Bioclear Method.

02

Chipped, Fractured, and Worn Teeth

The Bioclear 360° Veneer matrices are fantastic for rejuvenating and repairing teeth without needing to remove healthy tooth structure as required for crowns or porcelain veneers. As teeth age, they begin to show wear. The Bioclear Method allows your dentist to add composite to compensate for the loss of enamel without needing to remove as much of your remaining tooth structure as crowns or veneers.

03

Black Triangle & Diastema (gaps)

Using a patented composite technique, our team can close these gaps improving the integrity of the gum and appearance of your smile. The Bioclear treatment is perfect for closing black triangles and closing diastemas (the vertical gap between two teeth).

04

Posterior Rejuvenation

Crowns, veneers, and onlays require the removal of a significant amount of healthy tooth structure. Conservative Bioclear Posterior Overlays are a healthier alternative for replacement of large, failing fillings and maintain most or all of the healthy tooth structure.

Our Bioclear Cases:
Before & After Treatment

  • What’s wrong with getting a crown?
Most dentists have been trained to do crowns to protect a cracked tooth. Crowns require the dentist to remove 76% of the top of the tooth, leaving a nub. A crown procedure reduces the size of the tooth until it's small enough to sit under a shell of porcelain that serves to hold the cracked sections of the tooth together.
  • What's the difference between Bioclear and a traditional filling?
Traditional fillings go “in” the tooth, which can eventually lead to a cracked tooth. Bioclear goes “around” the tooth with a combination of engineered cavity preparations and the patented Bioclear Method.
  • A dentist told me I need to get a crown for my cracked tooth. Can I get a Bioclear Overlay instead?
Many teeth we would have previously crowned can now be treated with an overlay. With a quick photo and x-ray we can tell you if your tooth is a candidate for an overlay instead of a crown.
  • Am I a candidate for Bioclear?
Candidates for Bioclear may have: Cracked teeth Broken teeth Root canal teeth Old silver & white fillings that are rough, stained, or have decay around the edges
  • How do I maintain Bioclear?
Bioclear restorations are smooth and seamless, which makes them easier to keep bacteria free then crowns or veneers. Just keep brushing your teeth and flossing regularly!
